our first night in Russia

we are right now sitting in the recreation room of the Novotel at the Sheremetyevo airport in Moscow, right next to a sign for the 'don pepe' texmex restaurant! We had to check out of our room but there is not enough time to go down town Moscow. Too bad, I would have loved to see the red square etc. Maybe on our next trip.

We made it safe and sound to Moscow. Passport control was easier than coming in the US on a visa. Unfortunately our luggage didn't make it on the plane and we had to file a claim for lost luggage. The man could tell us in less than a minute that our suitcases were still in Amsterdam and would arrive on the 5am plane ( it was 2:30am at that moment). But filing the claim was a bit more complicated and not exactly well organized. We filled out at least 6 forms each, some in english, some in russian, had to get stamps at customs and go back to the claim desk again. The man was very polite though!

Tatyana, our host, was luckily already waiting for us and escorted us to
our hotel. We asked for a late check out so we could sleep as long as we
wanted (I am sure we can use all the sleep we can get) and sleep we did. Both of us were out in no time and we woke up around 10:30am. the luggage had already been delivered so after a nice lunch we showered and got some clean clothes. Boy, did we feel better after that! Although, Marc still needed a nap while waiting in the rec room. Who would have guessed that! marc NAPPING!!!

So now up to our next and last leg of the trip......Vladivostok where we will arrive at 1:00pm tomorrow (another overnight flight) which is 11:00pm Louisiana time. just 2 more nights till we meet Anna and Ivan! I can't wait!
