Er is er een jarig, Hoera! Hoera!

Today was Hannah's 4th birthday but the fun already started last Friday with baking the cake for the party on Saturday.  Dressed in her new apron, an absolute necessity, we measured and mixed till we had the perfect batter for the perfect cake.  The only problem was that mama could not read the recipe and didn't realize that the recipe was for THREE 9" pans instead of one. Since we were using a 9"x5" pan I thought I needed a double recipe.  The result.....enough batter for the cake and 20 cupcakes!!!   They all turned out fine though and we'll have enough cupcakes for a long time.

Saturday we left with the decorations, cake and bubble machines as party favors.  It was a small party (Hannah's is not quite ready for a big group of screaming kids) but we had a lot of fun.  Darcy and Neil came with Andrew and Isaac and Zenya came with Valentina.  So with our 2 we had 5 kids.  They enjoyed the cake, the bubble machine and Ivan especially enjoyed Isaac electric car (it was hard to get him off. Luckily Isaac didn't care) and after they all played in the park for a while. After nap we all went to see "Despicable me' which was enjoyed by all, big and small.

Today was the actual birthday and Hannah woke up at 6am just in time for mama to be able to give her a big birthday hug and put her in bed with her father for a while.  She took cupcakes to the daycare (that only leaves us 11 more) and when she got home we had presents, and her favorite dinner.... spaghetti and because of the special day, some candy for desert.  We also moved her to a new room.  She has been sharing a
room with Ivan up to now but we realized that was time to split them up. They have a very different rhythm and keep eachother awake.   Plus, they will have their own rooms when we move so this is a good way to ease them into that.
