Counting down!

Just 5 more days and we'll be on our way to make the little brother and sister our son and daughter.  It still seems almost unreal that after 3 years of paperwork we will finally be a family!

Did we spend most of last week getting the trip logistics worked out, this weekend was used to get all our things together and pack the suitcases.  I drove back and forth to Mandeville (about 1 hr each way not taking into account the driving around searching for the subdivision I had to be. Googlemaps was a bit confused when it came down to the small streets) to pick up snowsuits that we could borrow from LEEAF (louisiana eastern european adoptive families). A great arrangement since snowsuits is not the highest priority in south louisiana and it prevented us from having to buy 2 suits that they will not need until next winter when they have probably outgrown them.

So packing is what we did today. Not an easy task considering that we will be gone for 4 weeks and the weather both in Vladivostok and Moscow is arctic.  But we managed to get everything for 2 adults and 2 kids plus toys and about 20 pairs of shoes for the baby home in 3 suitcases and 3 pieces of hand luggage.

The last worries are our visas, which are due tomorrow, and the plans of British airways to go on strike (we fly them from London to Moscow).  So keep your fingers crossed that they will arrange their plans around our travel arrangements (or even better... decide not to go on strike).

  3. I think we'll be OK. BA has to give at least a 7 day notice (we are flying in 5 days). The way back is still far away. we'll worry about it then.
