Another field trip!

Hello from Vladivostok.  We are still doing great.  We all had a good night sleep after a dinner in the room and some playtime with the other kids and of course the highlight of every day.. the bath.  Our poor girl wanted to put back her nice new clothes after her bath and wasn't too pleased that she had to put on her pyamas, even if they are pink and say 'love me'.  But both kids were out in less than a minute.

Today we had a big adventure. We took the train to downtown Vladivostok with the Porters and Justin and Amber and their 2 little kids!  This might not sound as much of an adventure especially since I have been taking trains my whole life in many different countries. But believe me... taking this train WAS an adventure. Just getting in the train that had high steps and a big gap between the platform and the train was not exactly my cup of tea. And the train doesn't stop a second longer than absolutely necessary.  We made it though and the ride was very nice. The track goes right along the shore and the bay is completely frozen over.  There were people driving their cars on the ice and plenty people were icefishing.

In Vladivostok it was the same ritual getting out of the train. A big gap and a large height difference.  Marc was carrying our boy who was not that pleased with the deal. He still is mosly a mammy girl. But there is no way I could carry him all the way (a stroller is definitely on the shopping list for the coming days so we will be more mobile).  We visited a little outdoor market and bought some candy and went to the post office for stamps (this time we'll mail our postcards in Russia and not in Baton Rouge!!).  We again went to Belle Bazar for lunch and again it was delicious.  The  kids again ate up a storm although our girl is not as worried anymore that there won't be enough and actually stops eating by herself at some point. 

After lunch we walked around a bit more and than got back on the train with Justin and Amber. (The Porters stayed a bit longer in town since it is their last day (we'll miss them but I am so happy for them that they finally get to go home and meet up with their boys again).  The same ritual to get in and out of the train and our little boy gave us a good scare when Marc put him down for a minute to pick up our girl.  He took off like a spear and Marc could barely catch him. But we all made it off safe and sound!  And our boy has gotten much better over the day to be carried by daddy. He even let Justin carry him for a while.

Back in the hotel we got the news that we got a suite with a full kitchen and lot more room.  We'll be moving tonight.  I hope the kids won't be too traumatized by it but I guess they'll be too tired since neither one napped and we did a lot of walking for those little leggs!
